The Royal Childrens Hospital, Brisbane
Dr. David Slaughter
Paediatric specialist, well versed in EB care for multiple sub-types,
adapting to differing treatment methods and a continual interest in
EB. Leader of the best crew of young Doctors of Medicine one could ever be
honored to be associated with.
Dr. Margaret Little - RBCH Paediatrics / Oncology.
Working under Dr Slaughter, without doubt the most dynamic "doctor" I've yet to meet.
Her efforts and support for both child and parent outstanding, part of a team in a
class of their own. The devotion and committment admirable, one deserving the merits of
life saver when regarding to Luke. It was her prompt diagnosis that was the key to Luke's
survival, her bedside manner most commendable, a credit to the medical profession.
Dr. Jason Aqworth - Department of Emergency medicine
Working under Dr Slaughter, and collegue of Dr Margaret Little. Now well versed in EB,
a life saver (literally), his decision to perform a blood transfusion on Luke to boost
iron deficiency without doubt the reason Luke still lives today. Excellent general
paediatric skills.
Dr. Kerrod Hallet - Dental Specialist
Leading Australian practioner in the care and treatment of paediatric
dental care. Well versed in the methodology in surgery regarding children and EB.
David (physio) and Lindsay (Hydro) - Physio/Hydro Therapy unit
Excellent overview of infant needs in the motorskill areas. Continual
interest and development of Lukes physical attributes and well being.
A dynamic approach and methodology for the betterment of the physiology of children.
Sister Jan Usher
Well baby clinic nurse, outstanding support and direction for EB parents.
Well versed in all areas of Paediatric support. A jewel to mothers in need.
The Fraser ward
The nurses and staff of this (under 6 month) ward must be regarded as the premier teams of
carers one could wish to have. A devoted 24 hour monitoring, administering and caring of Luke
during the critical periods proved to have been a major factor in the recovery of Luke and
his terminal infection. Let it be known a mere mud cake is more than enough to elevate
the committment of the teams of people that aided us during this period. Even the
wardspeople demontrated the compassionate qualities of an excellent team.
